Tucson AZ Rock Throwing Poltergeist

Paranormal Phantom Besieged a Home in Tucson’s Desert

The Berkbigler family was tormented by a spook in 1983. The police and others could not catch the culprit. Finally, eminent parapsychologist D. Scott Rogo went to help.

Poltergeist activity is caused by psychokinesis, PK, the ability of the mind to affect matter. There are two types of poltergeists, human, agent, HAP and entity agent, EAP. The stone thrower’s activity is limited to hurling rocks. The rocks may go through the air very slowly or move at odd angles. In some cases, the poltergeist may start with rock throwing, then escalate into other mischief.

Tuscon Poltergeist Activity

For Richard Berkbigler, his wife, Mary, and children, Rick, Jerry, Anita and, later, David, it was a nightmare beginning in September. At first, it was an annoyance, but the phenomenon didn’t stop. The rock throwing usually began between 5:30 and 7 PM after the family arrived home. It ended when the family went to bed.

At first, the family thought it was a vagrant. Richard and his sons would run outside to see if they could catch the culprit. The house was not fully completed when they moved in. They thought a drifter had been living there and was trying to scare them out of the house. They asked for help from friends and family, then contacted the sheriff’s department. Soon, law officers were getting wary of investigating the rock thrower. Some had been hit by the stones, as were their patrol cars. No one was able to see the culprit.

The attacks exacerbated in November. Rick gathered people to do another search for the perpetuator. A rock hit one of the searchers in the jaw. Soon after, Rick’s uncle called to the others. He was near a brush. The men heard rustling from its direction. Rick’s uncle was hit in the head by a rock, causing him to become unconscious. The men began to throw rocks at the bush, but saw no one leave it.

In December, a TV crew was going to film the activity. Rocks were hurled at them. Law enforcement was contacted again. They were subjected to the same. After this, Anita’s 21 month old daughter was stuck by a rock, but not injured.

Mary suspected the perpetuator was a ghost.

Tuscon Poltergeist Investigation and Theory

Rogo talked to witnesses and also saw some activity. While the parapsychologist was active, Rick saw a man in dark clothing, gloves and a black hat. The man eluded him. Another rock was thrown from a position that the mystery man could not have hurled it from.

Rogo came to the conclusion that the stone thrower was a poltergeist based on the following reasons. The activity began suddenly, then stopped three months later. Stones were hurled only when the family was home. Although it was inky dark, the thrower hit its targets with eerie accuracy. No one saw the thrower. The large rocks did not hurt anyone except for the uncle. Rocks were seen coming from brush, yet no one was observed leaving it.

Rogo discovered that David, 15, had temporal lobe dysfunctions which are rare in a boy his age. Rogo theorized that, perhaps the boy was a HAP because his medical condition and the poltergeist activity might be connected. This theory differs from other documented HAP cases. Those incidents happened only when the human agent was present. In at least one episode, David was not home when the rocks were hurled nor did he live at home when the activity began. Could it be possible that some HAPs can affect objects from a distance?

I am at this site because 1/12/2010 just before 4pm, about 5 small rocks (each about the size of a wad of bubble gum) dropped with a bang to our living room floor! They did NOT leave any mark or hole in a window or ceiling. Later at just before 6pm another rock slam just behind me on the floor. I was weepy all that morning and couldn't imajine why. Then when I heard about the Haiti earthquake , I thought it was tied into that. I live in Deltona, Fl and that maybe it came from another dimension. , what do you think?

My name is Wade Keniston and my Girlfriend's name is Jill Toth. She has goosebumps on her arms right now after reading this, because she was best friends with Anita during their childhood years. Jill remembers the ghosts and things that happened on 34th st. She remembers curtains even opening with noone present to open them and Jill would run out of the house screaming if the doors were able to unlock. But they wouldn't even unlock at times. This is real and scarey stuff that truthfully happened thats not even mentioned in this story. Jill has alot more to tell.

Now after speaking further with my fiance Jill Toth, this story gets a whole lot scarier bringing goosebumps and tears to Jill's eyes. The story started at a location that we will not disclose when Jill was around 7 years of age. It started as children living across the street from each other. Strange things would happen in that house in which Anita resided which continued to resurface later on in life for both of them. When her best friend Anita moved, and Jill moved also to a differant state, the paranormal spirits followed both Anita's family to one location which we won't disclose, and Jill to a location in Colorado where even stranger activity would happen. Jill had instances at her next house where SOMETHING GHOSTLY would do things like make things disappear and reappear the next day. And even worse was a full carot diamond ring that dissapeared in midair out from Jill's sister's hand never to be found again. Radio stations changed all the time in that house........... If you want to chat, email me at purswade69@yahoo.com.
