Myron O. Brown, with the support from four Philadelphia millionaires, built the Sagamore Hotel, an elite resort, featuring a golf course and lodges, by Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains that opened in 1883.
The complex has been a social center for the affluent residents of Green Island and Millionaires Row who live in the majestic mansions in Bolton Landing. Staff and guests believe the resort has more ghosts than have been documented.
Ghost Child Haunts Sagamore’s Links
In the 1950s, a little boy collected golf balls and sold them to the golf shop.He was hit by a car and killed when he ran to retrieve a ball that landed on the road. His ghost plays pranks on golfers. He steals guests’ golf balls and they can hear his laughter while they search for them. When the players finally give up the search, his apparition hides behind a tree and throws their balls at them.
Haunters of Sagamore Hotel’s Dining Rooms
According to some witnesses, the spectral duo descends from the second floor and sits in one of the six restaurant’s reception room, then vanishes. Others report that he, during a rage, forcefully pushed her onto the floor. She reached up to him, then faded into the carpet.
The staff thinks the couple was one of the first guests of the hotel during the 1880s. Mr. Brown’s restaurant was visited by a ghost of a tall woman with flowing sandy colored hair who was wearing a white evening gown. She muttered something to the chef. When he turned around to look at her, she walked towards him, passed through him and disappeared.
Sagamore Hotel’s Man and Woman Ghosts
A staff member walked into an empty elevator and pressed its button. Her elbow bumped into something she couldn’t see. Suddenly an obese man with a walrus mustache materialized. He was dressed in a tailored three piece brown suit. When the elevator stopped and the doors opened, he took three steps out of the elevator and vanished.
A mysterious spectral lady garbed in white enters many rooms. Guests have reported feeling light chilly breezes. The ghost awakens sleepers by looking into their faces and blowing her cold breath on their eyelids. People in the room feel something is watching them.
